tradmusic.com - A Statement Many of our regular visitors will have noticed that our traditional music resource has been offline since July 2008. Sadly, our website was targeted by hackers who succeeded in closing us down. Despite concerted efforts by our team to repair and relaunch tradmusic.com, the repeated hacking attempts put us in a position whereby we were spending all our time fighting hackers which left little, or no, time to run the business, thus shutting us down. Our small part-time team have deliberated long and hard about the logistics and overheads involved in re-launching the website and sadly, given the amount of time and commitment required by us to keep it going, we have decided to permanently close the resource. We did discuss the option of re-launching without our online shop as a 'non-profit-making' traditional music resource but, given the level of cuts experienced by the traditional arts in the current financial climate, we decided that any application to arts councils, or our running as a charitable organisation, would be futile. The process of winding up tradmusic.com begins with the return of 'sale or return' stock and the backing up and archiving of our considerable databases of luthiers, artists, venues and festivals. The entire tradmusic.com team would like to thank all those of you who visited our resource, contributed to it, bought from it and those who nominated it for a 'Services to the Industry Award' in 2006. It was you, our visitors and contributors, who turned the small idea we had back in 2002 into the successful and popular resource tradmusic.com became. Thank you! The domain will be re-launched this winter as the official home of tradmusic Records and Aaron Jones, one of our tradmusic.com team. Your sincerely |
