You couldn't help but get to your feet for the Mohsen Amini Band in 2016
World class musicians performing and teaching in Galloway. Rachel Newton went on to win the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for Best Musician in 2017.
Local duo Rosie and Ellen performed on opening night in 2016.
An award of £3,000 from D&G Council's Regional Arts Fund plus new funding awards from The Holywood Trust and The Galloway Association of Glasgow, combined with continued support from local and national sponsors, helped deliver 5 concerts, 9 traditional music workshops, 1 language workshop, a cinema experience, pipe band and highland dancing performances, tune and song writing competitions, instrument makers, tune and song sessions; it was another packed programme of events over 3 days.
2018 sees the 5th anniversary of Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival and we're pulling out all the stops to deliver another outstanding event in Wigtownshire. This year sees us host officially registered Scottish Highland Dancing competitions and, as ever, some of the biggest names in traditional music who will be performing over the 3 days. We have the bubbly on ice and can't wait to see you all again in Galloway. The tunes last year were just mighty!
