Dancers celebrate their acheivements at the Highland Dancing Competition in 2018
47 young dancers competed in 2019 at one of the largest traditional Scottish dancing competitions in South West Scotland.
Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival is run on an entirely not-for-profit basis with volunteer support from a fantastic board of Trustees, dedicated and committed individuals in Nathon Jones, our Festival Director, and Paula Herries our Dancing Co-ordinator and of course the wonderful audiences, sponsors, funders and partners who continue to support the event.
Not only will your support have a direct economic impact in the region, you'll also be helping people, young and old, to learn, develop and celebrate their traditional music, dance, language, culture and heritage which is incredibly important but also lots of fun and, in some cases, can be career defining.
The 9th annual Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival takes place over the 7th-9th July 2023 and, after an incredible year in 2022, will continue the festival's tradition of bringing the absolute best in traditional Scottish, Irish and World music and dance to perform in Galloway. Stay tuned throughout the year for programme announcements, or grab an Early Bird Weekend Pass - on sale now - and secure your seats now for 2023!
