TVYP members volunteering at July's annual music festival

If you're aged between 12-25 years old and would like to meet like-minded young people, musicians and performing artists then please pop along to The Vault Arts Centre, Newton Stewart, on Wednesday's between 4:30pm-6:30pm.

This year the project aims to support music lessons, rehearsal space with access to The Vault Arts Centre's musical instruments, PA system and lighting, creative arts workshops in song writing and film making as well as all the usual TVYP organised events such as the popular open mic nights and regular drop-in sessions.

What is TVYP?
The Vault Youth Project (TVYP) is led by young people who are passionate about creating opportunities in music and the arts. Their ambition is to bring young people together to help reduce social isolation and increase confidence and skills through a range of activities inspired by music and creativity.

Trad Music Trust (The Vault Youth Project) is a member of Youth Scotland (Membership Number 35001917).  The project is supported by local charity Trad Music Trust who encourage, develop, support and promote traditional music & dance learning, composition and performance in Dumfries & Galloway.

To ensure the safety and protection of young people, all staff and volunteers supporting young people at TVYP have been registered through Trad Music Trust (The Vault Youth Project)'s PVG Scheme.

What happens at TVYP?
Unfortunately, due to COVID 19, The Vault Arts Centre had to close during lockdown which therefore meant that young people could no longer continue with their programme of activities and projects for young people. However, with Dumfries & Galloway now in Level 1, the young people are passionate about recreating opportunities for local young people to reconnect and re-engage in music and creative activities with their peers.

TVYP will initially take place weekly, Wednesday's 4:30pm-6:30pm, with additional events and activities being added to the calendar as and when decided by the group.

Do I need to book in advance?
Level 1 Scottish Government guidelines on the delivery of indoor youth work limit group to a maximum of 30 people, including youth workers, so for now it would be preferred if you could indicate, in advance of the group starting, that you'll be attending.  You can call 01671 404924 / 07970 359557 or e-mail info@thevaultartscentre.co.uk.  You can also leave a message on the TVYOP Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/TheVaultYouthProject.
